On April 13, 2023 the Yampa Valley awoke to massive flooding. The principal of nearby Steamboat Springs High School identified it as yet another way the impact of environmental change is being felt in rural Colorado. “Eco-Anxiety” is real for students and educational pathways are a great solution. Tal Sheleg has a lot to say about the climate crisis: “No offense to the older generation, but I feel like my generation specifically is really trying hard since it’s going to be on our hands, or our kids' hands. We don’t want our earth to die!” Along with her friends Amara and Indigo, they’re doing what they can in Leadville, Colorado. From a school wide Earth Day Event, to a summer Hut trip, they’re building a club and getting others involved. Their environmental journey began when they attended a summer program in Durango in Southwest Colorado, another community taking this innovative, “Climatarium Hub”, approach.

Collaboration transcends politics in this inspiring documentary that infuses environmentalism into all career paths. “Climatarium Hubs” are a new model for rural communities. Bringing together various stakeholders across business, education, higher education and civic organizations, students can now earn badges on their climate pathway. Created in partnership with Lyra Colorado, a nonprofit organization charting a new course for innovation in education.
